In Germany, an imprint is required for websites that do not exclusively serve personal and family purposes. It indicates who is the author or responsible for the content of the website.
Imprint - the basics
The information provided on this page is solely general and superficial explanations of how website operators should write their own legal notice. This article does not constitute reliable legal advice or actual recommendations for action, as we cannot assess business relationships with customers and visitors in advance. We therefore recommend that website operators seek legal advice and support when creating their own legal notice.

Contents of an imprint
The imprint varies depending on the type of website and company (e.g. sole proprietorship, GbR, GmbH, editorial team, etc.). Website operators should therefore seek legal advice in order to better understand which information is relevant for their own legal notice.
In general, the legal notice includes: full name and address of the company; Company telephone number, fax number and email address; Name and address of the registration court/commercial register where the company is registered; (commercial) registration number of the company; Company’s VAT identification number; If necessary, information about the responsible supervisory authority.
